CTV Interview global coverage of Ting-Yu Chen & Flying Lions Dance Company in Concert a full evening concert of 10 original choreography Living Matters – a Cultural Exploration of Essence which toured in Kaohsiung and Taipei, Taiwan summer 2007. The touring concert was made possible by grant supports of Chin-Lin Culture Arts Foundation, World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific, Bureau of Cultural Affairs Kaohsiung City Government and Tso's Dance Association of Taiwan. Chen received Interdisciplinary Faculty Development Grant by Shenandoah University, supporting the recording of 5 Taiwanese folk and popular songs sung by Taiwanese singer Liong-Shan Hiah and arranged by Conservatory music composition professor Thomas Albert. Faculty & student musicians included Frances Averitt – faculty flutist, Glenn Caluda – faculty guitarist, Camilo Perez-Mejia-student cellist, and Mark Russell-student percussionist. Chen choreographed to the set of songs titled Longing premiered them at the concert of Living Matters – a Cultural Exploration of Essence. The entire production was interdisciplinary, faculty/student and cross-cultural collaboration.
