Chinese Calligraphy Workshops with Ting-Yu Chen


Class Description
With attention to breathing and mindful brush strokes, instructor Ting-Yu Chen leads her students to experience the harmony, beauty and serenity in Chinese Calligraphy. Starting from learning the basic technique of simple brush strokes, students will be able to write Chinese characters and create framable art at the end of the session.

Date: SATURDAY 4/2, 4/9, 4/16
Time: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm (3 hours)
Place: Ting-Yu Chen Studio (119 Killaney Court, Winchester, VA 22602)
Fee: $45/per session

Deadline for registration: 3/27/11.
Payment Instruction: Please make your check out to "Ting-Yu Chen" and mail your check to 119 Killaney Court, Winchester, VA 22602. If you are not attend all 3 workshops, please indicate the dates of workshop you wish to attend.

You don't need to bring any supplies. But if you wish to own your own set of Chinese Calligraphy set, here is the list. You can try Michaels or Studio Art in Winchester. I also purchase my supplies on line at http://www.orientalartsupply.com/products/brushes.cfm
1) Chinese calligraphy brushes (all sizes are OK)
2) black calligraphy Ink (ready made) or ink stone with ink stick
3) Newsprint paper (for practice writing)
4) Rice paper/calligraphy paper

If you wish to make framable calligraphy art, please bring:
1) Nice watercolor paper (140 lbs)
2) 4X6, 5X7 or other size photo frames for your final art project

Arrival:

Classes will start and end on time. Please come 10-15 minutes early to park.
